Remote MCP tools
Use Connect → Remote Tools when the tool implementation already lives behind an MCP Streamable HTTP endpoint. Configure its endpoint and any static headers, then refresh discovery to inspect the tools the server exposes.
Attach the remote tool connection to one or more models and deploy. Keep credentials in the remote-tool configuration, not in model source. If discovery fails, fix the server endpoint or authorization before relying on the attachment.
Use a local workspace tool when the implementation belongs in the workspace; use a remote MCP tool when another service owns the implementation.
